Deeper Upper do not like to rush things. It took this four-piece band from Vilnius six years and a couple of quite sharp stylistic turns to come up with songs for their debut album Mirrors. It was worth the wait. Released at the end of 2016, it came with a real CD-box sized mirror glued inside the digipack (see what they did there) and, more importantly, was praised by critics as one of the best Lithuanian albums of the year. Formed in 2010, Deeper Upper started as an rock band with hints of post-punk, Interpol gloom and London indie disco vibes. Their debut EP Structures (2013) painted a picture of an evolving band with ...
Beissoul & Einius

Singer Beissoul (that's how Lithuanians pronounce "bass soul", real name – Artūras Žabas) and producer Einius Jarutis came a long way since they emerged on Lithuanian pop scene in 2012. Gigs in Berlin, London and Kiev, energetic festival performances wildly weird videos, a Best Electronic Act win at Lithuanian music awards M.A.M.A. in 2016 – in their home country, this duo are already bona fide pop stars, and it wouldn't be wise to bet against them making a significant international brekthrough during the next couple of years. It all started when Beissoul appeared on a national TV show, becoming an overnight sensation – people were ...

Frankly, it's a bit difficult to find ba. using search engines, but don't let that put you off. Benas Aleksandravičius, the singer, songwriter and driving force behind this band (it's called after his initials, if you haven't guessed it already) is one of those jaw-dropping success stories – when he broke through in 2013, a couple of months later he was getting hundreds of thousands YouTube views – at tender age of 16, without record label backing or conventional promotion, this indie rock singer managed to capture hearts and minds of young internet generation. Having dropped out of school to concentrate on music (still a pretty unusual ...

"They certainly remind me of this band I used to manage, called Pink Floyd", legendary rock manager Peter Jenner said after witnessing these Lithuanians' performance. A comment that should surprise nobody – for Garbanotas Bosistas (which means Curly Bass Player in Lithuanian) definitely are inspired by the psychedelic haze of the 60's. However, wide array of influences can be  traced in this band's sound, from krautrock vibes to blues rhythms and ambient soundscapes. Garbanotas Bosistas were formed in 2008 by two brothers who were taught to play guitar by Franciscan monks (and no, we're not making this up). After a couple of minor line-up ...
Without Letters

"We aim to redefine how a band can sound when the guitar became a non-rebellious instrument". That's how Without Letters state their intent. One of the most interesting bands that Lithuania's alternative scene can offer, this group of young musicians (in their early twenties) have been experimenting since around 2010. The first couple of internet-only singles created a considerable buzz online, despite the band later stating that they knew next to nothing about performing at that time. Although it's tough to describe the band's ever-evolving sound, it's been called math rock, psychedelic dance rock and post-rock during various stages of Without ...
