" Atmospheric indie electro with broad appeal "

Bred and also based in Budapest, electronic duo Analog Balaton, comprised of Ákos Vörös and Aba Zsuffa, play a potent hybrid of house music and lyrical pop, fusing smooth vocals and gentle guitar licks with brooding beats. They emerged in 2017 with a shared desire to create in various styles and also to blend them together, making tracks that are pulse-raising yet meditative. Their productions are equal parts brightly melodic and dourly atmospheric, and while they seem to prefer the slow build to pop immediacy, their music is really accessible.

The act began playing shows in their home country, and soon found themselves playing gigs in support of internationally acclaimed acts, such as Dutch duo Weval and Canadian Bob Moses. In 2021, they released their debut album, the nine-track ‘Lent’, via Universal Music Kft. Hungary. The album is strong and broadly appealing, with a variety of instruments and a collection of sounds and noises that create a whole of no particular subgenre of electro, but rather an accumulation of music – house, alternative rock, pop rock – that works.

To sum up, Analog Balaton create songs that are impressively sequenced, moody and mysterious, while also giving space to the lyrics to further support the already wide sonic array of emotions and different facets of human connection. They can set you free or lead you to ruin, and all that in a wistful way, from longing (in ‘Könnyű’) to heartache (in ‘Hibrid’, or ‘Krokodile’). For a debut album, the fully-formed nature of their songwriting, pacing and dark atmospherics is remarkable.
