" Goth music’s new prophets under the Vesuvio "

Naples based trio Ash Code were founded by singer Alessandro Belluccio, keyboard player Claudia Nottebella and bass player Adriano Belluccio in 2014, bringing with them a revamp of solid drum machines, haunting synths and driving bass lines, which in the 80’s characterised the sound of cult goth bands like New Order and Sisters of Mercy. The 80s sound is a genre which the three absorbed and then reshaped in a mannerist way, while at the same time staying true to the original aesthetics and attitude of their predecessors (Alessandro and Claudia, in particular, bring to mind respectively Sisters of Mercy’s Andrew Eldritch and Patricia Morrison).

With the obscure electronic beats of songs like ‘Dry Your Eyes’ and ‘Empty Room’, the trio conquered the audiences of prominent goth festivals in Europe, Russia, Latin America and the US, after drawing the attention of a variety of labels on which they have published their music since 2014 (from Helvetic ‘Swiss Dark Nights’, with which they released their first three albums ‘Oblivion’, ‘Posthuman’ and ‘Perspektive’ to French ‘Manicdepression Records’, which pressed the vinyl version of their works, and finally US ‘Metropolis Records’ that recently reprinted their entire discography).

Their latest release, the EP ‘Fear’, was conceived during the lockdown, after Ash Code saw all their promotional music commitments cancelled, including an American tour. At the time they felt quite hopeless about the future of their project, but they now have an extensive list of gigs scheduled for 2021/2022, a return to brighter times.
