" Atmospheric postcards from the Black Forest "

If landscape art was presented with music, then it would sound something like that of Fejká . There’s a current trend amongst German producers — such as Christian Löffler, and Niklas Paschburg — for combining percussive electronic music with natural landscapes, littering their sounds with delicately captured foley. Black Forest, atmospheric deep-house producer Fejká falls easily into this category, and it was of no surprise that he was quickly signed to Löffler’s label, Ki Records.

His sensual music feels like a soundtrack to some of the most epic National Geographic images. Prior to his music career, the young German producer studied filmmaking, which accounts for his cinematic style. His record sleeves, designs, and music videos, all of which depict moments of stunning scenery, are all created by Fejká himself.

Fejká’s music is characterised by warm pads, soft strings, pianos, and gentle house beats. Here and there, distant far-off vocals can be heard. His tracks are built around feelings of longing and nostalgia, creating soothing soundscapes that hold a sense of tranquility, and bittersweet moments of melody. Fejká focusses on the evocative, creating ethereal, dreamlike atmospheres, seemingly aiming to get people to feel and move at the same time. It’s through this audio and visual language that the young producer is able to purposefully engage in storytelling, creating narratives centred around emotion.

One of the artist’s best works is entitled ‘Hiraeth, the Welsh translation for ‘Sehnsucht’; the word for longing or pining in German. Through this, his music is effective, creating a longing to go to the Black Forest, to dream and meditate in one of the most pristine and beautiful environments in Europe. It’s no wonder that Fejká is so obsessed with nature.
