The electronic, jazz, and pop prodigy Kadjavsi, a.k.a. Nikita Dembinski enchants with his heartfelt, contemporary and eclectic sounds. Based in Bucharest, the artist’s penchant for story-telling is rooted in his background as a photographer. The tender and cordial tones and lyrics within his music lie at the intersection of Kadjavsi’s work as both a musician and a visual artist.

Although his niche, modern-pop styles are influenced by the likes of James Blake, and The Smile, the sound is also heavily connected to his love of jazz. As such, Kadjavsi has worked with Tajnic, a Romanian jazz trio, to reinterpret his music in a live setting.

The Romanian artist started making music back in 2017, frequently performing at the local Control Club. After experimenting with ambient music and scoring for film, it wasn’t until the 2021 single ‘Each Day’, that Kadjavsi started to become a singer. It didn’t take long for him to release his debut LP, ‘Second Sun’, an ardent collection of tender moments, experimental sounds, and catchy hooks, filled with upbeat pianos, sublime sound design, and new wave atmosphere, all tied together with lush vocals.

The epic yet delicate lead single from the album, ‘Sidelines’ is a showcase of an artist who’s going places, while the rest of the album harnesses his epic, and yearning desire. A live version of this album, recorded at the Control Club, was released in 2023. Through Kadjavsi’s music, it’s easy to see that modern pop is a precious thing, and as such, that he’s an artist we should treasure dearly.
