" A modern psych-kraut trip by three French experimentalists "

Visually, MEULE are an unusual band: in the foreground of the stage, two drum kits face each other, sharing one kick-drum, while in the background stands a giant modular synth played by the guitarist overlooking the various operations. This strange, fascinating set-up was unveiled by the French act to the rest of the world via their KEXP session in late 2022, the session itself being a well-deserved recognition for these experimental newcomers, who played their very first show in December 2019, right before the pandemic.

MEULE are not only intriguing visually, but also musically. Valentin Pedler, Dorris Biayenda and Léo Kapes also released their debut self-titled album in 2021, followed by several EPs (including ‘Beau Red’, in June 2023). The result is both hypnotic and explosive, both vintage and modern, with occasional nods to Kraftwerk, Neu!, Can, and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. Their singular choice of instruments gives birth to a sonic trip,  entrancing at times, mixing krautrock, post-punk, garage, electronic and psychedelic influences. Never afraid of long tracks to develop their soundscapes, the three musicians hailing from Tours have built a strong reputation by touring a lot over the last few months (including shows at prestigious French festivals such as the Trans Musicales, Les Escales and Levitation).
