NEW RELEASE – DECEMBER 2020

Hildur Kristín Stéfansdóttir (or simply Hildur) has been involved in music for over ten years, having had collaborations and performances with artists including Cell7 and Ólafur Arnalds. She began studying the cello at the age of six and continued to do so for eight years before venturing into singing as the front woman of indie-rock band Rökkurró, which was signed to Icelandic label 12 Tónar.

After having performed in the Eurovision finals in 2015 under the project SUNDAY with the song “Fjaðrir”, Hildur gained an introduction into the world of pop. She returned to Eurovision in the 2017 Icelandic preliminaries with “Bammbaramm” under her own name, and is now making a name for herself as a solo pop artist.

Hildur’s music lets her voice shine, with a quality that shows off how effortlessly she is able to switch between the indie-rock voice she began with and the newer pop one. Using a mix of synthesisers and more traditional pop elements, Hildur creates earworm-worthy pop. Her debut EP was 2017’s Heart to Heart, which included the emotional ballad “Water” and positively catchy “I’ll Walk With You”.

A staunch feminist, Hildur was nominated in 2017 as a member of the Keychange Initiative, a European gender equality project targeting the music industry and music festivals. She has performed at a number of festivals as part of this initiative, including Gothenburg’s Way Out West, and continues to champion gender equality and positivity both in her music and image.
