" French pop from the mountains "
Her name is Morgane Imbeaud, and in another life, not so long ago, she was the vocalist in the group Cocoon. Six years, two albums and 300,000 sales later, Morgane decided to take off. This first took the form, in the second half of the 2010s, of various collaborations, for example with Elias Dris for an album of Simon & Garfunkel covers (like Simon & Garfunkel, they’re good people), but also with the great Jean-Louis Murat, for some shared compositions. At the dawn of a new decade, Morgane decided to speak alone. Her album is called “Amazon”, and for good reason.
But first, let’s go back. The year is 2017, and Morgane, 30 years old, feels the call of the far north and decides to go on an adventure in Norway. There, she meets “a people of extraordinary positivity and equality”. This journey would only be the beginning of another. “Amazone” was slowly taking shape there, in the cold. A solo album, and a title which carries with it many images. In Greek mythology, the Amazons are a people of warrior women. And Morgane is one of them! Not Greek, no, the singer was born in Clermont-Ferrand, at the heart of the Auvergne mountains. But Morgane Imbeaud is one of those women who inspire, and advance. One of her most beautiful compositions is called “Je suis de celles qui se lèvent” (“I am one of those who get up”). And she is not afraid to sing it. Great for women. Even better for music.
