Dans le costume (sur mesure) du fils prodigue, voici Mustang, groupe né à Clermont-Ferrand il y a un peu plus d’une décennie et qui depuis, ne cesse d’épater la galerie avec ses incroyables chansons (et reprises), qui empruntent au rock ou à la country, à l’électro ou à la chanson d’ici.
Combining biting lyrics with exciting choruses, there is more to the trio than meets the eye, as is evident from their recently released fourth album with its telling title of ‘Memento Mori’ (‘remember that you will die’) that really does dot the i’s and cross the t’s: we are not here to waste time, but to revel in the huge breadth of these earworm tunes with their radiant groove. And so, within the confines of the Michelin stadium, we can already see that Jean Felzine, Johan Gentile and new arrival Nicolas Musset will be putting pedal to the metal.
Entre mots acerbes et refrains superbes, le trio en a sous le capot, comme un témoigne un quatrième album fraichement sorti, dont le titre programmatique, « Memento Mori » (« Souviens-toi que tu vas mourir »), met les points sur les « i » : on n’est plus là pour perdre son temps mais bien pour profiter dans les grandes largeurs de ces mélodies qui collent aux tympans et de ces grooves rayonnants. Alors, dans l’enceinte du Stade Michelin, on devine déjà que Jean Felzine, Johan Gentile et le nouvel arrivé Nicolas Musset vont mettre la gomme.
