So, what’s up Europe ?
During the 2019 European Parliamentary Elections, an interesting trend emerged: younger voters were more deliberate and exhibited a strong focus on climate change, human rights, and democracy.
To build on this energy, Culture Action Europe launched an electrifying initiative, ‘Pop the Vote! Culture on the Ballot.‘ on 9 May 2023. Led by Culture Action Europe and co-funded by the European Parliament, the project calls upon artists and student artists, aged 18-30, to be Changemakers in their communities. Changemakers will mobilise citizens, especially underrepresented groups, using art and culture as tools to enhance participation in the 2024 elections.
Pop the Vote! calls on European artists, student artists, and cultural workers aged 18-30 to be Changemakers in their communities for the 2024 European Parliamentary Elections. Selected Changemakers will embark on a week-long, fully-funded training program in Belgium in February 2024, which will cover artivism, campaigning and using artistic expression as a political language. Changemakers will design a blueprint for two engagement events in their home countries. These events, leveraging artivism, aim to mobilise over 5,000 citizens leading up to the 2024 European Parliament elections. Pop the Vote! provides Changemakers with 1,197 EUR to support their artistic engagement.
Artists, student artists, and/or cultural workers are invited to respond to an open call for Changemakers.
