For the hybrid 2021 edition of the European Youth Event, Europavox will be introducing a total of 12 talented artists and their commitment to the causes of gender equality and the fight against climate change, with four of them performing live at the European Parliament in Strasbourg on October 8–9.
First off, we’ll talk online and get to know Danish songstress Lydmor, who weaves powerful electro-pop reflections on gender as one of the most subtle yet powerful parts of our civilization. She’ll be joined by AURORA, the Norwegian pop star who speaks openly about her sexuality and gender identity, and Evgenya Redko, a breakout Lithuanian star who tackles female empowerment through sincere songs. We’ll also interview Angolan-born, Portuguese-raised music fanatic Pedro – alias Batida – about his contagious rhythm, while the tireless Italian trio JoyCut will tell us about taking their dark post-rock expanses and environmental awareness all over the world. French “vegetable pop” scientists LABOTANIQUE want to give a voice to the plants themselves, Belgians JUICY use their slinky RnB to educate the masses about female empowerment, while as Afrodelic, Lithuanian Victor Diawara combines African music and electronic rhythms with the activist lyrics of his acclaimed writer father.
To round off the event, we’ll of course take to the stage – at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, no less! Polish indie-folk storytellers Lor and multitalented Belgian singer Claire Laffut will play their takes on artistic cross-pollination and music inspired by other art forms, enigmatic French duo Terrenoire will take us on their soft electro odyssey, and singer-songwriter Plàsi will perform live the bright indie folk tunes that have earned him a dedicated following.
