Follow the guide : Lowly’s best spots in Copenhagen

To help us spend the perfect weekend in beautiful Copenhagen, we ask Danish band Lowly for their favorite places in the city. Follow the guide!

When imagining their new record ‘Keep Up The Good Work’, released in February 2023 but composed during different lockdowns, Danish band Lowly asked people to send them recordings of what they would say to the people they cared for to give encouragement or support. ‘Our DMs were flooded with positive affirmations and personal stories about what people tell their kids, friends and loved ones’, explained singer Soffie Viemose. Today we can hear those messages on the album. A beautiful way of including their audience in their dreamy pop world.

In the same vein of sharing good vibes, Soffie is dispensing some recommendations of places to visit when in her city, Copenhagen. From cool restaurants to museums and even a kid-friendly playground (not hangover-friendly, though!), plan your Danish weekend thanks to the singer of this internationally acclaimed quintet.

Copenhagen Contemporary

« This beautiful museum is in an area called Refshaleøen. It’s an old industrial area, and the museum’s buildings are former welding factories. It’s surrounded by water and close to the opera house, and a really cosy small restaurant called la Banchina where I have only been once, because it is always filled with people more patient/persistent than me. »

Amager Fælled

« This is a huge national park-like area, where you can go for walks, bike rides and enjoy nature, while still being very close to the city. The area is protected because of its great biodiversity, but in looming risk of being used for new housing areas and shopping malls, so you might want to hurry. »

Louisiana Museum of Modern Art

« A museum a half-hour train ride away from Copenhagen, located in Humlebæk, on the seaside, with beautiful architecture and consistently interesting art. I love to go and look at their new and permanent exhibitions. Alex Da Corte, who I am a big fan of, just had a huge exhibition there. »

Vega

« A great venue with three stages, a tiny one (Ideal Bar), a small one (Lille Vega) and a big one (Store Vega), Vega is a place for both newcomers and very established artists. We’ve played all three, using the stages as stepping stones in our career, so of course there is an attachment there. I watched James Blake at Lille Vega when he was just starting out, which was a great intimate concert. »

Flere Fugle

« A restaurant/bakery/club/gallery/coffeeplace that offers you everything your little Copenhagen hipster heart desires. Bingo nights, release parties and great company. »

Dinos Legeland, Amager

« Ok ok ok, I know this might not be for everyone. It certainly wasn’t for me, before I had my son, but here it goes: if you need to entertain your kids while visiting Copenhagen there are playgrounds all over… However, if it rains, and you are fed up with nature and art museums, you can go to this extreme indoor playground with pillowed walls, slides and weird colored candy. I will say the acoustics could be better, and you shouldn’t go there with a hangover. »
