Covering a song can sometimes be a challenge, especially when paying homage to cultural monuments. Covering Armenian Navy Band’s ‘Here’s to you Ararat’ is one such situation.
The music is already intricate, both rhythmically and melodically, but Ladaniva’s folk instrumentation, using acoustic instruments like flutes, guitars, light drums and percussions, not only does the original justice, but also emphasizes both the lyrics and Jaklin Baghdasaryan’s delicate vocal performance.
The music video, subtitled ‘POSTCARD’ and directed by Boukbar Benzabat, shows Mount Ararat in almost every shot, along with Armenian scenery, landscapes and people. Alongside the music, this makes it an all the more efficient way to highlight the love letter both to the country and Mount Ararat, currently located within Turkish borders.
