INmusic Festival 2017 was a very special event for a bass player and singer with the name of Roko Crnic. On day 1, he performed before the headliner Arcade Fire on the main stage in the backing band of the Croatian art rock legend, Darko Rundek. On day 3, Roko was back to the festival on the Hidden Tent stage with his own band, Porto Morto, to play an impressive selection of songs from their eponymous debut album, self-released via Bandcamp, late 2016.
Singer-songwritter Billie Joan, born Ivana Pezo, comes from Split, Dalmatia. She became a musician by accident when her late father found an untitled cassette tape on the road side. Young Ivana discovered it was Springsteen’s Born in the USA.
Zrinko, Mario and Jasmin started their friendship through music when they were in an elementary school in Virovitica, Eastern Croatia. Even then, they were making original music and experimented with recordings and sound production, despite the lack of the professional music equipment. Later, Zrinko and Mario went on to study music in Zagreb and Vienna, and Jasmin started to develop his woodcrafting skills by making his own instruments. During this time, the old friends played in different bands. Eventually, all of them ended back up in their hometown and started ZmaJ.
Jana (Yannah) Valdevit is a Croatian singer, songwriter, producer and classically trained pianist. Her musical roots and career stretch from her hometown of Zagreb, Croatia, to Europe, US and Japan. Jana first started to identify her own musical path when she discovered jazz as a teenager and became obsessed with the style.
