Play! All the artists from Europavox Bologna 2024 in one playlist
Bologna, here we come! Europavox Festival is returning to Italy on the 8th and 9th of March for a two-day musical celebration. Bands are hailing from Belgium, France, and Portugal, as well as local discoveries, and will deliver folk, rock, rumba, and afrobeat…
Mark the 8th and 9th of March in your diary, as Bologna is welcoming a line-up that truly reflects European music’s diversity and its fantastic artists, who are up for any challenge. Take Pomme, playing on the 8th of March: a massive headliner in France, she’s ready to take her autoharp and delicate French singing to prove that emotions can be shared no matter your foreign languages level. For Ada Oda, it’s the opposite: their mother tongue is French, but the Belgian rock band’s lyrics are in Italian! A fresh and candid take on songwriting that promises rich conversations in the backstage area with their fellow first-day artist, Cristina Donà, who started her pop-rock singer-songwriter career in Milan. For Irish singer-songwriter Aoife Nessa Frances, it’s all about blending, whether it is in her musical influences, which draw from folk and psychedelic music, or in her lyrics, to give double meanings to her songs.
The next day, Estragon Club will vibrate with intoxicating grooves from floor to ceiling, courtesy of La Pegatina, Rumba de Bodas, Alo Wala and Venga Venga. The latter are a Portuguese duo mixing tropical vibes with electronic music and queer activism, playing in Italy for the very first time, while La Pegatina hails from Barcelona and indulges in ska and Catalan rumba. Alo Wala is from Denmark and spearheads the renewal of Punjabi music, all the while making hard-hitting songs that transcend geographic and musical boundaries. And if Rumba de Bodas is from Bologna, the collective is in fact a Tower of Babel made band, writing in English, Italian, Portuguese, and French, even including some expressions from Ghana’s Twi language, in their blend of cumbia, swing, afrobeat and funk.
