There is a common saying in French that goes ‘in May, do whatever you want!’. That’s exactly what we did with this monthly selection, digging out bands from all over Europe that express themselves in every possible style of music!
Heavy metal? No problem, we found Acid Row in Czechia. Hip-hop sung in Serbian? Discover NADYA! A Belarusian electronic band with French, Belarusian, Spanish and German lyrics? Yes, they exist, and they are called Rap&Vogue. Afro-beat mixed with rock music? Have a listen to I Hate My Village from Italy, before embarking on a Scandinavian tour with Ary’s electro-pop from Norway, Joalin’s unique blend of Finnish pop with reggaeton beats, and Joshua Idehen’s spoken-word hailing from Sweden, which you may have heard featured on Metronomy’s latest single ‘With Balance’. And to end this utterly free journey, let’s go to Belgium, Germany, and Austria, with Dan San’s indie-pop anthems, Meagre Martin’s 90s indie and shoegaze sounds, and Mother’s Cake’s psychedelic rock space travels.
May is definitely a beautiful month!
