This stylish Italian is the first signing on 7K!, the twin to influential Berlin record label !K7 that’s plugged into all things electronic and hip-hop. 7K! is like the polar-opposite twin, branching off towards modern classical music and acoustic. And who better than Luca D’Alberto to christen this new musical adventure. Since the success of label Erased Tapes’ artists (Nils Frahm amongst others), we know that the link between neo-classical and electronic is not as crazy as it might seem. And D’Alberto’s instrumental album Endless (co-produced by Henrik Schwarz) is the flamboyant proof. Having previously collaborated with Peter Greenaway, the Italian can also count directors such as Wim Wenders and Lars von Trier amongst his fan club. His popularity amongst European cinema’s heavyweights seems logic, for Alberto has the knack of composing subjects that strike a chord with listeners.

Each piece on Endless is gently played on the piano and violin, and could easily make up the soundtrack to our most melancholic moments, as if turning us into the lead in a beautiful dramatic film or sending us off to a land of sleep-filled fantasies. When he’s on stage accompanied by a pianist and violist, Luca D’Alberto usually starts the show by asking: “Are you ready to come dream with us?” Although his music is timeless and pure, there’s nothing abstract about it – it’s indeed full of life. He wrote the piece Endless for his nephew, and at the end of each concert, he thanks the audience for having shared a with him a moment of their lives. His intense mini symphonies are easy on the ears and are sure to appeal to auditory thrill seekers.
