" A Parisian band bringing back guitar distortion with style "
Looking at today’s charts and streaming trends, rock music and guitar-based songs seem to fly under the radar, keeping a low profile in a landslide of electro-pop, hip-hop and R&B. Like fashion, music is cyclical and rock will undoubtedly end up returning to the spotlight.
Meanwhile, countless new guitar-oriented bands are swarming all over the internet and playing live all over the world (pandemic permitting) – discovering them is not a difficult task at all. Paris-based collective Bryan’s Magic Tears is one of these young, bold, interesting bands who will never give up on rock. Signed on Born Bad Records, one of the best independent labels in France, the five-piece revel in distorted guitars and ethereal vocals, two of the main ingredients of the shoegaze subgenre. They don’t hide their influences (The Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine, Dinosaur Jr., etc.) and even sing in English to reinforce the tribute, but they also add a modern twist to their songs.
After a self-titled mini-album in 2016, they released their debut album, ‘4 AM’, in 2018 – a wonderful showcase of their talent, with powerful melodies and DIY ethics. Their single ‘Marry Me’ is a perfect introduction to their world. After that, they confirmed all our hopes with their second album, ‘Vacuum Sealed’ (released in October 2021) and the amazing single ‘Sad Toys’. Like their label mates Le Villejuif Underground, Bryan’s Magic Tears are a thrilling live band, full of energy and surprises. Their love for shoegaze, garage rock and dream-pop is infectious.
