" A promising duo mixing 90s alternative rock with a modern touch "

Francis of Delirium is the alliance of two generations operating in the service of a certain vision of rock. One half of the band is Vancouver born Jana Bahrich, 19, who sings, writes songs and plays guitar with a fascination for 90s grunge – an era that she didn’t experience herself, but feels strongly connected to. Accompanying her on drums is Chris Hewett, a Seattle expat 30 years her senior. The Luxembourg-based duo formed after Jana became friends with some of her classmates, who played in a family band with their father: Chris. Their partnership can seem unusual, but it definitely makes sense, with both being creatively influenced by the grunge movement (especially Nirvana and Pearl Jam).

Their first two EPs, ‘All Change’ and ‘Wading’, both released in 2020, showcased their love for powerful rhythms, thunderous riffs and intense lyrics about self-doubt, trouble, vulnerability and angst. Since they started out at the beginning of the pandemic, they haven’t had many opportunities to play these promising songs live yet. This will surely change soon, as they have the potential to become a major band in the Luxembourgish scene and beyond – they have announced shows in France, the Netherlands, the UK and even a North American tour supporting The Districts. Watching some of their YouTube videos could be a good introduction to their galaxy, for instance tracks like ‘Karen’, ‘Ashamed’, ‘Red’, ‘Lakes’, or ‘Come Out and Play’. Don’t believe the title of one of their songs, ‘I Think I’m Losing’: on the contrary, Francis of Delirium are on the rise.
