Some of you may already be familiar with this artist’s music under a different name. Romane Santarelli started off her career under the moniker Kawrites, a solo project which became a duo in 2017, releasing several EPs. Since 2020, the producer and multi-instrumentalist from Clermont-Ferrand has performed under her own name, with assurance and serenity. These qualities can be applied to her debut album, ‘Cosmo Safari‘, which she released in 2022 after two years’ preparation.

The pandemic and various lockdowns have, it seems, been a creative time for many musicians. Romane Santarelli proved her own impressive use of the time with each new video she posted on YouTube during these troubled days.

With songs such as ‘Log Lady‘, ‘Cannes‘ and ‘Super Solar System‘, this fascinating artist has showed that she can completely hypnotize her listeners with her machines and synths, alternating between subtle cosmic atmospheres and haunting martial beats, poetic soundscapes and energetic rhythms. “Even if my music is instrumental I want to tell stories“, she explained in an interview accompanying her Europavox session in 2022.

As she launched her solo career in 2020, at a time when live music came to an abrupt halt, she had plenty of time to work in the studio and pay attention to every little detail of her sound. Having become one of the most interesting newcomers in French techno and a thrilling example of how women are more and more visible in this scene, she is now able to perform her tracks live and make up for lost time.

Listening to her transporting tracks while standing amongst a crowd makes you feel like you’re sharing the same pleasant dream as everyone around you: an experience not to be missed.
