" The Skittering Rhythms of Static-Laced Landscapes "

Temple Invisible is the love-child of actress Irina Bucescu and film director Costas Ivanov. Throughout the 2010s, the project has become one of the most valued and versatile ones in the Romanian electronica circuit. The name is borrowed from a concept coined in The Prophet by Khalil Gibran– a book that reviews the human condition.

Irina and Costas started working together in 2012, and by 2015, they had developed into a full-blown band, with the release of their first EP, ‘Enter_’. Two years later, in 2017, their second EP, ‘Void’, met the world – an expertly-mixed and rhythmically complex dark and gritty soundscape.

Pre-pandemic, Temple Invisible performed regularly at all major Romanian venues and festivals, crossing borders to the UK, USA, Australia, even Paris Fashion Week, and shared the stage with acts such as Bonobo, Modeselektor, and Orbital.

Earlier this year, they released their third EP, titled ‘Chiasm’. It kicks off with the multi-textured ‘Stardust’, where throbbing beats build up with emotional intensity towards the finish line. On the next track, ‘Hold’, the atmospheric frequencies compliment Irina’s raw and sombre vocals, which clash with growling descending guitar leads. The melancholic whimpers on ‘Over my feet’ marks a touching narrative shift on the record, through the gorgeous strings that embellish the piece and signal the grand sense of metamorphosis that swallows up the final song, ‘Say’, through thick and watery synths.

With raucous synths and sharp production, ‘Chiasm’ is layered, intense and ready to make you hungry for whatever Temple Invisible has in store for us next.
