" Austria’s pop-princess turns Electro-Rock Goddess "

London-based pop darling Anna F. took the name of her most recent project from her hometown of Friedberg, in Austria. During her previous incarnation as a solo artist, her whirlwind career included tours alongside the likes of Lenny Kravitz, and James Blunt, in addition to winning the coveted Amadeus Austrian Music Awards for pop back in 2009. Nowadays, the pop star can be found darting between L.A. and London with her new project Friedberg, a four-piece indie project with infectious post-punk bass riffs, and a badass, in-your-face attitude.

It was in London that Anna found three other like-minded musicians to complete her band. Together the female-troop of gallant rock n’ rollers released their debut EP, ‘Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah’ earlier this year on Marathon Artists. Produced by Matthias Bierman and Brandt Brauer Frick’s Daniel Brandt, the record exudes brash Krautrock alongside moody, upbeat indie-dance grooves. A buzzing mixture of energies, the record bounces from the raw rock sound of ‘Lizzy’, to the Neu!-meets-Gossip pop chaos of ‘Yeah’, a track that wouldn’t seem out of place in an Erol Alkan DJ set from the earlier days, during Camden’s pomp. Also on the EP is the cowbell-heavy funk rhythm of ‘Midi 8’ that throws together a whole plethora of alternative percussive instruments in a melee of modern-wave-funk, in addition to the melancholic and epic closer ‘Your Hollywood’.

Already no stranger to success, Friedberg’s tracks have been played on the BBC, and synced to several TV shows, including the incredibly popular ‘Normal People’.  On tour, the band have already touched on the main cornerstones of the European scene, including the Reeperbahn, Eurosonic, and many more. With a forthcoming solo tour in November, Anna F. will no doubt be back on everyone’s radar, reimagining pop for our modern new-wave souls.
