Built with the precious help of Victor Diawara, our dear collaborator from Vilnius who doubles as Loftas’s artistic director, here is the last Top 10 selection of 2023, in our opinion a great one, carefully curated to represent Europe’s richly diverse music scene. The ‘Band of the Month’, chosen by our team of project partners, perfectly embodies that diversity, sailing over a plethora of music waves: you can simultaneously find rock, jazz, afrobeat and North-African influences in Club Makumba’s instrumental music. Their ability to make you think about the world and dance at the same time is priceless, cathartic and liberating!
In this last selection of the year, you will also find guitars from Greece (Sugar For The Pill) and Lithuania (Local Blood), soulful songs made in Norway (Beharie), Italian and Spanish pop (Daniela Pes and CARLANGAS), explosive hip-hop from France (Uzi Freyja) and Slovenia (Masayah), Swedish electronic cold-wave (Rein) and even a Danish take on Turkish music (AySay). They combine to create a perfect combo of warm rhythms, icy melodies, good vibes and stirring energy… Way better than a cheesy Christmas album to liven up your holiday dinners, right?
