For the European Youth Event (EYE2021), which will take place from 4 to 9 October 2021 in Strasbourg, we asked French artist Jacques to show us his hometown through his 6 favourite places.

🖼️THE TOMI UNGERER MUSEUM
“Tomi Ungerer is our local star. He had to leave the region and become well-known in New York to be finally recognized at home, but now he has a great museum dedicated to him. We love his children’s stories (which all children should read), his protest works, which are generally anti-war, and some pretty crazy pornographic drawings. It’s well worth a visit.”

🕹️LE SHADOK
“Le Shadok is a city space dedicated entirely to digital arts. You can explore a computer music school or meet people inventing controllers for video games. The Connexions exhibition, running from September 9 to October 30, is top notch: competition in video games, virtual reality films, retrogaming and more.”

🎤LA LAITERIE
“The city’s emblematic concert hall is La Laiterie. The dream of every Strasbourg teenager making music is to play in this place.”

🍜DIM SUM SAM
“An address only known by a few, but one of the best Asian restaurants in town. It can be hard to get a seat but it’s worth it!”

☕NOMAD CAFÉ
“When I was a kid, the Neudorf was a really ordinary district, now it’s the epicentre of people who eat organic food and want to save the planet. The Nomad is a cool café where you don’t feel like you’re being taken for a fool, as can happen in other modern places.”
